Susan Seats

Susan’s North Star for her life journey is a sense of altruism. She has been a Magician, Teacher, Hospice Educator, Public Speaker, Rotary Ambassador, and Social Justice Activist.

Her life journey has taken her:
• To 35 years of social service work with children, and 8 years as a hospice educator; (all have been nonprofits.)
• To China spending several years there teaching English at Hubei University of Technology, and Thailand teaching younger children.
• To Uganda with “Conejo Compassion Coalition” which supports a medical clinic there. Assisted in assessing needs for educational and agricultural projects.
• To Fundraising for NGO, “ASHA” to help education projects in villages of India.
• To serving as a teacher through a Rotary grant serving as a “disability specialist” helping teachers In India who work with children with special needs.
• To Fundraising for NGO” TAPAC”, to raise funds for education, food and housing for their homeless shelter for youth from impoverished communities of Uganda.

Her present activities with nonprofits include:
• Board member of Conejo Compassion Coalition, fundraising for projects for the poor and those surviving disasters, locally and globally.
• Board member of “The Harp Foundation” providing healing music for those facing terminal illness and with special needs.
• Member of AAUW (American Association of University Women.) To advance gender equity for women and girls through research, education, and advocacy.
• Member of Toastmasters (Speaker training club) and volunteering to coach youth and fellow toastmaster’s new club members.
• Advisory member for nonprofit TAPAC (Traditional African Performing Arts Center) in Uganda providing shelter for youth who are homeless and impoverished; registering them in school and training them in cultural arts.
